Energy Currents and Ley Lines

Most 'primitive' people and many religions have sacred sites, areas that have special significance. The reason why places are considered sacred is because of the energy currents that pass though them. Nowadays most people, especially those who live in big cities, are oblivious to the currents of energy that flow through the world but years ago energy currents played an important part in everyday life.

I remember walking through an old English village. There were two main energy currents: a positive and a negative current. Where they crossed was an old English village cross, hidden amongst the gravestones in the local church cemetery. Across the street was a new village cross which had no relationship to the energy currents.

The place where positive and negative energy currents cross is important and in old countries such as England and much of Europe, churches were built at these places. People have noted that in South West England churches are built in lines that nowadays are called ley lines.

I should explain about positive and negative energy. Positive energy, also called 'Yang', masculine or air energy has an expansive effect. Negative energy, also called 'Yin', feminine or Earth energy has a contracting effect. Areas in negative energy are often by water or in valleys and are often called sleepy places. Areas in positive energy are often on hills and are uplifting; people stay up late and can get manic. Where the energy currents cross is the balanced energy and usually have a very good feeling to them. Some hills, particularly of granite, have intense energy stored in them. Even city people recognise the extreme energy of places such as Uluru. Hanging Rock, a limestone rock formation outside of Melbourne, is considered a sacred site and has strong positive energy. At sites like this the elders would take neophytes to initiate them in out of body experiences. Carlos Casteneda refers to similar experiences in the high-energy areas of Mexico.

This energy has an astrological aspect. As the sun, moon and planets move through various astrological signs the energy changes through varying degrees of positive and negative. Alert people are aware of positive days, when everything is lively, and negative days when the feeling is more subdued. This is part of the natural cycle of the universe at it moves through expansion and contraction, positive and negative.
