Going Troppo
There's a syndrome experienced when people live in the tropics. In Australia it's called 'going troppo'. People crack up due to the high positive energy levels experienced in tropical climates. If you meditate you will find that that the feeling at night in tropical areas is quite different from the 'dead' feeling you get in temperate climates, especially in winter. Often when people move to tropical climates they have trouble sleeping until they get used to these high energy levels.
At the other extreme, a couple spent a year in the antarctic as part of an experiment.
Once winter set in there was no possibility of help until spring. There was
also no sunlight. The woman said that every day she cried. It was, she said,
a feeling of complete loneliness. This may sound like hell to some people but
people will push themselves through exhausting trials to climb a mountain or
cross a dessert. This is a different kind of experience and one that can be
more mind expanding. This feeling of loneliness was due to the absence of positive
energy. In the absence of sunlight there is only the earth energy, and as I've
mentioned before, ('Energy Currents and Ley Lines') this brings about introspection
and a heaviness.
Christmas is a holiday that was inherited from Roman times who, in turn, inherited it from the pagans. It was originally a holiday to celebrate the winter solstice (as it is in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere it is summer solstice). The winter solstice is the shortest day, when there is the least sunlight and therefore when earth currents are at their maximum. It brings about introspection and a time for sleeping, eating and family. By contrast, the summer solstice brings about feelings of adventure and excitement. Nowadays, introspection is rather a dirty word; it's something polite people don't do - certainly not in company. Instead people get drunk, which is why everyone wishes each other a 'merry' (that is, drunken) Christmas.
None of this has anything to do with the birth of Christ (who almost certainly wasn't born at this time of year), and even as a symbol of religion it has lost any meaning. The kids get presents and the adults get drunk.
